The Mossberg 500 All Purpose Field is a versatile pump-action shotgun chambered in 12 Gauge and built on Mossberg’s iconic Model 500 receiver – the platform that has made O.F. Mossberg & Sons one of the largest manufacturers of pump-action shotguns in the world. This All Purpose Field configuration is designed to be a true do-it-all field gun: a single shotgun equally at home on an upland bird hunt, in a duck blind, or at the sporting clays course.
At the heart of this model is a 28″ vent rib barrel finished in rugged matte blued steel. The vent rib stiffens the barrel, helps dissipate heat during long shooting sessions, and provides a clean sight plane. The barrel is chambered for 3″ shells and safely digests both 2-3/4″ and 3″ 12 Gauge loads. Mossberg’s Accu-Set choke system is included, allowing you to swap chokes to tune patterns for tight upland passes or wider waterfowl spreads. Sights are a fast-pickup dual bead configuration (mid-bead and front bead).
The black synthetic stock and forend are formulated to handle rain, snow, mud, and cold without warping or swelling, making the 500 All Purpose Field a reliable companion for hunters who put real miles on their gear. The pump-action cycle is operated via the sliding forend, and the magazine tube holds 5+1 rounds (5 in the tube plus 1 in the chamber). The shotgun balances at an overall length of 47.5″, making it well-suited for both walking field hunters and trap/sporting clays shooters.
