The original .44-40 Win (.44WCF) use a .427″ bullet and new .44-40win die sets come with an expander for .427″all current revolvers and rifle reproductionguns are manufactured with a .429″ grove diameter.Using .427″ bullets in barrels that are .429″ will cause accuracy issues.Many hand loaders today are getting better results using .429″ however this requires a .428″ expander die.Thanks to Hornady we have this die for that purpose.
