Description
The Hornady InterLock is Hornady’s traditional exposed-lead-tip rifle bullet, engineered for controlled expansion and hard-hitting terminal performance. This 6mm / .243 caliber 100 grain Boat Tail Spire Point (BTSP) projectile is sold in a 100-count box, with 25 boxes per case, for handloaders building rifle ammunition.
Construction centers on a one-piece core and jacket design locked together by Hornady’s signature InterLock ring, which prevents core-jacket separation on impact. The exposed lead tip initiates expansion, and inner grooves strategically weaken the upper jacket to promote reliable petal expansion across a broad velocity range. A cannelure mid-body delivers a positive seating stop and a secure crimp groove for handloaded rounds.
The tapered spire point profile and boat tail base give an advertised G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.405 and a sectional density of 0.242, balancing downrange velocity retention with the deep penetration needed for hunting applications. Bullet diameter is .243 inch; jacket material is copper over a lead core.
