The Hornady SST (Super Shock Tip) is a polymer-tipped, boat-tail hunting bullet designed to deliver tremendous shock on impact while expanding quickly and reliably. This .30 Caliber (.308″) 150gr loading is a popular choice in the SST line for handloaders building medium and large game rifle cartridges around the .308″ diameter.
The SST’s signature polymer tip drives into the jacket’s hollow cavity on impact, initiating rapid, controlled expansion. The boat-tail profile reduces drag and helps the bullet hold velocity downrange. Published figures for this 150-grain .308 SST include a sectional density of .226 and a G1 ballistic coefficient of .415.
Ideal for whitetails and various North American big game, these projectiles are well-suited for any rifle chambering in a .308″ bore that loads 150-grain bullets.
