The Savage Axis 2 Pro Compact is a purpose-built bolt-action hunting rifle chambered in 7mm-08 Remington with a compact footprint sized for smaller-framed shooters and youth hunters. Part of Savage’s feature-rich Axis 2 Pro line, this rifle combines a 20″ carbon steel barrel with the company’s renowned user-adjustable AccuTrigger and a durable, camo-clad synthetic stock for serious big game hunting.
Up front, the 20″ heavy barrel is spiral fluted for weight reduction and improved heat dissipation, finished in a Bronze Cerakote coating that matches the action and provides corrosion resistance in the field. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24 for the attachment of a muzzle brake or suppressor, and is chambered with a 1:9.5″ twist rate well suited to a wide range of 7mm-08 bullet weights. An integrated one-piece rail sits atop the drilled and tapped receiver for straightforward scope mounting – the rifle ships without iron sights.
The action is a time-tested Savage bolt design paired with the crisp, user-adjustable AccuTrigger, allowing shooters to fine-tune the pull weight to their preference. A detachable box magazine feeds a 4+1 round capacity, making it deer- and elk-ready out of the box for any hunter stepping into the woods. The right-hand configuration suits the majority of right-handed shooters.
