The Taurus 1911 FS is a full-size, single-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in 45 ACP. Built on the classic Government Model profile, this pistol delivers the traditional 1911 ergonomics, balance, and recoil management, and is regularly cited as a budget-friendly entry point into the 1911 platform for first-time buyers, range shooters, and home-defense users.
A steel frame carries a subdued blued / matte black finish that holds up well under range and carry use. The 5″ barrel drives full-power 45 ACP loads while the full-size slide stretches the sight radius for improved down-range accuracy. Overall length is 8.5″ and unloaded weight is approximately 38 oz, giving the pistol enough mass to tame recoil without becoming burdensome on the belt.
A single-stack magazine provides 8+1 capacity – eight rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber. The pistol follows the conventional 1911 control layout with a single-action trigger, thumb safety, and grip safety. Checkered synthetic grip panels deliver a confident, all-weather hold on the standard 1911 grip frame.
