Description
The Winchester SXP Black Shadow is a workhorse 12 Gauge pump-action shotgun built for waterfowl, turkey, and general field use. Its tough synthetic stock is finished in a non-glare matte black with a textured gripping surface on the pistol grip and forend, and a vented recoil pad helps tame the push of heavy 3.5″ magnum loads.
At the heart of the SXP is Winchester’s proven pump action featuring a strong rotary bolt and four massive locking lugs. Feeding is handled by a 4-round tubular magazine plus one in the chamber for a 4+1 total capacity. The 28″ barrel is topped with a ventilated rib for fast target pickup and is chrome-plated and back-bored at .742″ to reduce recoil and produce more uniform patterns with steel, tungsten, bismuth, and lead shot alike. A 3.5″ chamber lets the Black Shadow digest any factory 2 3/4″, 3″, or 3 1/2″ shell you feed it.
The barrel is threaded for Winchester’s Invector-Plus choke system, and the Black Shadow ships with three choke tubes – Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder – along with a choke tube wrench. A single front bead sits atop the rib for traditional point-of-aim shotgunning. The synthetic buttstock measures 13.75″ length of pull with a 1.6″ drop at comb and 2″ drop at heel. Overall length is 49″ and the shotgun tips the scales at approximately 7 lbs.
